Audio Sweetening Prep
Preparing your avid audio for an audio session.
- Duplicate your sequence and move that sequence to
a new bin.
- Open the new sequence and delete all video tracks.
- Highlight the new sequence in your bin with a single
click of the mouse.
- Under top-level menu item, "Clip," select "Consolidate."
(accept the 60-frame handle default). This action will write new
media to your destination drive (jazz for most projects or zip for
smaller projects). This action will also place a number of ".new"
master clips in your bin and write new media files to the drive
you've selected in a folder called "OMFI MediaFiles." These files
will be used by Pro-Tools during your audio session.
- Highlight the same sequence again.
- Under the top-level menu item, "Files," choose "Export."
(You will be prompted with some choices and under "Export File Type,",
select "OMFI Composition."
- From the pop-up menu, select "SD2;" under "Version,"
select "OMFI 2."
- Press "OK" and select a drive. (Use jazz or zip).
Keep your file names short and logical. Do not remove the .omf extension,
which is the default name. Note: Please use 48K sample rates since
Digibetas are at 48K. Files saved at 44.1 will need to be converted
to the higher sample rate.
